We hear it all the time.  "I can get the ladder, hang some lights on the house and plug everything into that extension cord the grandparents gave me when I was a kid.  No problem!"  Not so fast.

  • 11,000 people go to the emergency room every year with holiday decorating injuries, electrical burns, broken bones, cuts etc.

  • 16 deaths a year are related to holiday decorating.

  • There are over 100 fires each year related to bad holiday lights; shorts in the lights, over-loading electrical circuits and/or misuse of extension cords.
